Senior Isaac Twombly (Baldwin, Kan.) broke his own school record in the men’s weight throw at the 2013 MVC Indoor Championships Saturday at the UNI Dome.

“We are so proud of Isaac!” Drake head coach Natasha Kaiser-Brown said. “He has worked very hard this year. I was impressed that he kept his composure throughout the six throws and at the end of the event he out threw some of the best in the nation.”  Twombly’s toss of 68-7.25 placed first and shattered his previous record of 66-10.75 set at the ISU Classic earlier in the month. Junior Andy Curtis (Manchester, Iowa) was ninth in the weight throw with a toss of 60-8.00, a personal best for the season.

After one day of competition the Bulldogs stand in fifth place with 20 points. Southern Illinois leads the meet with 46 points with Indiana State trailing by just one at 45.  Most of the events on the track were preliminary heats to set the finals held on Sunday.
