CRIMSON TIDE ATHLETES WIN 4 EVENTS ON 1ST DAY OF INDIANA RELAYS

Bloomington, Ind. – Alabama athletes won four events on Friday in the first day of indoor track and field competition at the Indiana Relays at Bloomington, Ind., winning the women’s triple jump, women’s mile, men’s weight throw and men’s 200 meters.

“We had a good day today – very encouraging,” said Alabama head coach Dan Waters. “The kids continue to develop, so it’s good to see them getting rewarded for it. They’ve been making good changes and learning each week. As coaches, that’s what we look for.

“So far this has been a great meet for us at this point of the season. This is definitely something we can build from and we need to keep it up and go out ready to battle tomorrow.”

In the men’s 200 meters, freshman James Harrington (Cedar Falls, Iowa) won in a time of 21.62 seconds, edging Calvin Edwards of Eastern Illinois (21.83). Alabama junior Diondre Batson (Sacramento, Calif.) competed in the Invitational 200 and finished fifth in 21.69 with junior Akeem Haynes (Calgary, Alberta) taking seventh in 21.92 and senior Dushane Farrier (Toronto, Ontario) eighth at 22.06.
