At The Next Level Iowa, 2012 was a very good year!  For many Iowans 2012 was a great year as well.  For this reason we felt it was appropriate to select a Next Level Iowa Performance of the Year. There were a number of candidates for this award.  We had and Iowan who won 2 NCAA championships.  We had Iowans in the Olympics.  We had Iowans break school and conference records.  But Central College seemed to take it all a step further. For the Central Dutch Men’s Cross country team 2012 was a great year!

The Dutch recorded accomplishments never before reached for a harrier squad from Pella, and they did it with their entire top 7 being former Iowa preps!  For their record setting season Joe Dunham’s squad has been chosen as the first annual Next Level Iowa Performance of the Year for 2012.  The Dutch men won the Iowa Conference Cross Country meet for the first time ever!  They won 2 other invitational’s and finished 2nd out of 28 teams in a rugged Central Regional meet at Northfield, Minnesota. On November 17 the Dutch wrapped up their history making season, behind former Southeast Polk prep Eli Horton’s All American effort with a 12th place team finish at the D-3 national Championships in Terre Haute, Indiana.

Congratulations to Coach Joe Dunham and the Central Dutch on a job well done.
