Kristy takes her 6th Midnight Madness 5k crown

Kristy Feldman won her 6th Midnight Madness 5K (Ames, July 14) in 17:53.  Her victories stretch back to 2004, 2005, 2008, 2009 and last year.  She edge out Catie Ellingson by 5 seconds for the victory.  Casey Owens a former 5K and 10K winner was 4th in 19:11.  Joe Aulwes taking some time off the past 6 weeks to recover from nagging injuries was 5th male in 16:19, he won the 5K in 2010.

In the Midnight Madness 10K Ellen Ries was 3rd in 36:18 and Traci Kresser was 5th in 36:48.  Chris Robertson was 14th in 34:03.  The races were held in traditional hot humid weather, the 5K starting at 7:30pm and 10K a hour later.  The 41 years of the race have featured almost every distance except a half-marathon.  The current distances have been the standard since 1987 when the 20K was dropped.  A combined 15 has been run the past 3 years, adding the times of the two races of the evening.

Erin Moeller took first overall at the Mt Vernon Heritage Days 5k (July 14) in 17:59.  Marie Schofer was 5th overall in 19:06.  Both runners call Mt Vernon home.

Rob Duncan has been recovering from IT band surgery, but is training for a fall marathon.  He ran a 26 miler on Saturday followed by the Iowa Games Triathlon on Sunday (July 8), finishing 12th male.  Danna Kelly was the first female.
